Stephens Mechanical LLC, Engineers is located in Biloxi, MS on the beautiful Gulf Coast.  A full service consulting Mechanical Engineering firm, our client base extends from Abaco, Bahamas to American Samoa in the South Pacific.  Lawrence has been providing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services since 1987.

Lawrence E. Stephens Jr. P.E.

President

Stephens graduated from Biloxi High School in 1974. He furthered his education at the University of Southern Mississippi where he obtained B.S. in biology. Shortly after, he discovered his passion for engineering and earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 1984. Stephens gained his experience working as a partner in a local engineering firm for 27 years and has now decided to pursue his dream of opening his own firm. He is now able to provide a very high level of services to those clients he has cultivated over the years and looks forward to working with new clients.

He is licensed in the state of: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. He is a LEED Certified Professional AP (BD+C), and also is a certified ACG Commissioning Agent. He is an active member of ASHRAE, Mobile Chapter, where he previously held the office of President, and served on as an ASHRAE Delegate to the Regional Convention. He has won awards for his LEED Certified GOLD Buildings, Grand Bay Neer, and also the Stennis Emergency Operations Center.

He has a high work ethic and will work to get the job done on time. He listens to his clients so that he can meet or exceed their individual expectations. Stephens loves and embraces the challenges engineering brings, calling it, “his life’s work.” He has never met a stranger and has developed long lasting-friendships and professional relationships with clients.

Mitchell Hughes

Mechanical Designer | CADD Operator | Quality Control Manager

Mitch is currently a Mechanical Designer and Quality control Manager for Stephens Mechanical. He and Lawrence have been a team working together for 21 years. Mitch has 28 years of experience.

Mitch has design experience in commercial, industrial, and military projects. He is versed in various systems of mechanical means including chill water, DX, split, and city multi type equipment. Mitch is a Team Leader and ensures quality control of each project. In addition Mr. Hughes has been involved in many facets of plumbing and HVAC design. His skills include the laying out of design of domestic and waste water as well as HVAC Systems. His education includes a three year apprenticeship program in Marine Engineering Design, an Associates Degree of Science and Design Technology from USM Gulf Park Campus & MGCCC Jackson County Campus in 1986. He has also attended various seminars and system design tool applications through vendors.

Mitch is proficient with AutoCad, Revit, Microsoft Word and Excel, HAP HVAC Design software, and other engineering software tools.

Lien Hoang F.E.

Mechanical Engineer

Lien is a 2011 graduate of West Harrison High School. He attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Pre-Engineering. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of South Alabama. He is certified in Fundamentals of Engineering. He has a strong work ethic and strives to learn everything he can about the business. Lien is proficient in AutoCad and Revit.

Lyle Stephens

Mechanical Engineer

Lyle graduated from Biloxi High School in 2006. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of South Alabama. During his time at USA, he was actively involved with the student chapter of ASHRAE and served as President. He is actively involved today with ASHRAE Mobile Chapter and is the current Vice President. Lyle is proficient in AutoCad, Revit, and energy modeling.

Luke Fletcher

Client Relations & Inspector

Luke works to provide our clients with superior service. His attention to detail comes from serving as a full-time firefighter at local area department. This skillset enables him to ensure that mechanical systems are installed efficiently and effectively as an inspector.
